Project Ideas

So now that 2 of the 3 in this group are admins, I figured its time to start figuring out what we want our project to be/revolve around.  I instantly jumped to Pinterest to find some ideas, because my brain was not helping me (I have done one of these project-based learnings before and that was in 5th grade), and I found a couple of ideas.
  1. Saving the bees from extinction (this one is close to my heart as I am an animal lover, but I don't really know how we would go about solving this)
  2. Creating/opening up a flower garden/shop, a permanent farmers market, or open both as a 2-in-1.
As far as opening up any sort of shop, we would have to figure out things such as:
  • Where it would be located
  • What would the hours be
  • How many employees
  • Who are the employees
  • Price ranges
  • What plants do we want/and when are they in season
  • Will we import things, or will everything be local or self-grown/made
Let me know what you think, as we have to have our concept map in on Sunday night, and am I reading right that the reading reflections are written as a group as well?

  1. Hey guys, not sure how to post on here after accepting the request, but I'm sure commenting on it will suffice. I posted in elearning some ideas I had, I will just paste the same thing below. I do like the idea of a business, too! It could be very interesting :)

Here is what I had in elearning:
I taught a gardening class to 2nd & 3rd graders 2 summers ago. I created lesson plans we had to follow and different activities and all that good jazz. Some of the projects we did were: the kids got to lant their own plant. They got to go weed out in the community garden. They got to capture japanese beetles so they would not harm the plants. We also did this really cool one with a plain old lima bean and a wet napkin and they put the bean in there and get to watch it sprout over a few days. There is a book I had as reference and it also had additional projects in it, ones for older kids, too. One the book had was you assign/students pick a healthy vegetable or fruit and they have to research it: how much sun it needs, etc, basically the best environment for it and then it's nutritional benefits as well. Not sure what direction we are wanting to take for this, but I can see if I can get ahold of the curriculum book for it. It had handouts with it, etc. Such a great resource
